Keighley Cougars became the first team to secure their place in the Betfred League One Play-Off Final, following a tight victory over Rochdale Hornets on Sunday.
The Cougars had built up a 22-6 lead heading into the break with tries from Lachlan Lanskey, Josh Lynam, Jack Miller and Mark Ioane. The Hornets’ Dean Roberts was the visitors sole scorer in the opening forty.
It was then a tale of two halves as Rochdale forged an impressive comeback with a blitz of three tries in the second half, but two Jack Miller penalties saw Keighley edge out a win.
More drama unfolded in Semi-Final 2, as Hunslet broke Midlands’ hearts and snatched victory at the death, with Jack Render crossing in the corner on the 79th minute.
Rochdale, the losers of Semi-Final 1, will host Hunslet, the winners of Semi-Final 2 next week in the Preliminary Final. The winner will then join Keighley in the Play-Off Final.
